Okay, so it’s the 22nd of December and I managed 16 days of Blogmas. Could have gone better but still pretty proud of sharing posts with you guys everyday for over 2 weeks. It’s kind of reconfirmed my love for blogging and I hope that now I know I can do this I won’t end up like I have done before where I don’t blog for weeks on end. Anyway, today I decided I would share with you guys how I’m finding finally been set up in business.
So as you’ll probably now, I recently became a qualified PT and nutritionist and finally got my business underway. Whilst I’m at University I am only doing online coaching and nutrition programmes and then, in time, I will be able to train people in person. Starting my own little business was terrifying. In fact, it’s still terrifying. I have been working super hard but putting myself out there has been a scary thing to do. I’m starting to get my head around it more though, I’ve sorted insurance and I’ve started keeping my books (I know, sounds serious right?). I’ve contacted clients and got their programme well underway and I am absolutely loving it. I was hoping I was going to enjoy it, after all it has taken a lot of work, but I never imagined I was going to enjoy it as much as I do.
I don’t want to be all cliched and act like everything has come together perfectly and everything has been a walk in the park. Business is proving a little tough ever so often. It’s a lot of work and doing this whilst in my final year only University means burning the midnight oil. I’m still practising as much self care and making time for myself but, at the moment, I am finding it quite manageable. I’m a proper list sort of person and I am quite self motivated so I’m pretty on top of everything. What I will say, however, is I am currently very poor. A hell of a lot of money has gone into getting started and, for a student, investing all your savings into something that may or may not work is terrifying but hey, that’s business right? Looking at my bank account right now is a very scary thing but it’s all about looking at the bigger picture (and practising my budgeting skills…).
It’s only been two weeks, I’m by no means an expert and I know I have a lot to learn and a lot of hurdles to overcome in order to make this little business live up to the vision I have for it in the future, but I just wanted to reflect on this initial stage. I have a lot of exciting things planned for the New Year, what with working experience with Women’s Health and helping my current clients smash their goals!
All I can say is if you’re apprehensive about giving something a go, go for it! Be persisted and be willing to leave your ego at the door. I’ve been shot down a lot on my journey to getting myself set up and I realised along the way I had a lot of learn. Send emails, make enquiries, do your research and make your dreams work!
